Cheers,
Adam | The sandpiper had gone by the time we found out about it and got to the Denge Hide, we did get the Bittern there though
The Little Auk only flew over the ARC in the morning and didn't stop so missed that.
We got the Great White Egret from Scott Hide, it showed well for ages and was great to see again
And the Dotterel...well that's a story in it's own We were heading down to the ARC Hide and just before getting to it all the took off after being spooked by a raptor. We got into the hide and a guy said he had a Dotterel, but he couldn't locate it again. Another guy in the hide had looked through his scope before the birds took flight and couldn't see it. All the Golden Plover and Lapwing had returned but no one could find the Dotterel, there were several of us looking for quite a while. So we don't really know if it existed to be honest.
Got the Bittern though, and Pintail which I haven't seen this year, a Rock Pipit and a stunning female Merlin by the boats

| | | Re: The Glaucous Gull at Dungeness Great day that ,cheers nige....Including the traffic jam on way home
I got 5 new bids for the year...
Bittern, golden plover, stonechat , great white egret, and merlin...
I will say with embarassment that the stonechat , I took rather casual, as i thought i had seen one before, .
The merlin , we had great debate over her , as she perched there ,letting us take a great look at her....and nige cursing me for not bringing my camera.
The Bittern , i was so over the moon i wanted to run around in the hide wih excitement.I didnt .
The goldon plover sitting there trying to look for the dotterel, that i was unaware again, looking at a bird i had not seen before.
The great white , well a strange graceful bird that was so motionless for most the time we were looking at it i thought it was a plastic one from a garden center to scare of other birds...
Another great days birding , which i now think nige is a lucky mascot and the 2 times we have gone down there i have seen new birds....
I felt horible at not seeing the G gull, we both so wanted to see, but sorry nige 5 newbies for me
The more im beginging to see the more im forgetting what i have seen .
old age i know.
thanks again nige
