Anymore for anymore....?
I wonder after they leave Cheshire, if they Cross the Channel by the next day ? More than likely,I'd have thought. | There were still a few swallows and house martins knocking around when I was at Spurn on Saturday (15th). Five flew past the reception at RSPB Burton Mere (Cheshire again!) on Sunday (16th) whilst I was there. I'm sure there'll still be a few more to come, I've seen both swallows and house martins in November.
Cheers

| | | Re: Last day of Swallows I saw a Swallow on 16th in London.
Like Jonathan says, the last migrants in the UK will still be here into November - and there are increasingy records of wintering attempts (though these are still fairly exceptional).
I'd be surprised if I've seen my last 'hirundine' yet, but whether I'll see both Swallow and House martin before next year is another matter!

| | | Re: Last day of Swallows I haven't but somebody posted on WAB a couple of days ago about quite a few still in Dorset which isn't that unusual. I'm sure a few will linger for a while in some sheltered south/west coastal areas. |
