| | | Birds of prey Hi I am naming my fishing pegs after birds of prey, can anyone come up with 6more names for me please, I got eagle, falcon and buzzard and am now stuck, thought this would be the best place to ask, I tried searching the net but can't make up my mind as I think some are american names and I would like British. Thanks |

| | | Re: Birds of prey Your using general naming terms, do you want to go more species specific common names i.e. Kestrel, goshawk, hen harrier, golden eagle, white - tailed eagle, red kite, Peregrine Falcon, merlin.

Falcon
Buzzard
Osprey
Harrier
Kite
Owl
Hawk
Vulture
Or more if you are more specific
For example you could break down falcon into
Peregrine
Kestrel
Merlin

| | | Re: Birds of prey If I have it right, Dawn asked for "9 British names" in total. eagle, hawk, owl, buzzard, harrier, kite, osprey, I can not think of two more can you. You may have to compromise some how Dawn. |

That's 9 for you, all British birds.
You could also have Sparrowhawk and Goshawk...
And that neatly avoids Dogghound's non-British vulture and the argument as to whether Owls are strictly birds of prey (is a Kingfisher a bird of prey? )
