Today is Ella the Magpie of my local area is celebrating her 4th birthday today . I first saw her as a little chick and unusually she had only 1 other sibling. She is the well... the dominant female Magpie and she is very beautiful. I am hoping to put a little cake of fruits and items she likes for her. Would anybody like to congratulate her ???

Yes, why not - happy birthday Ella.

I know people have pretty polarised views about Magpies, but I still like to see them hopping around on the lawn. The colours (not black at all when at close quarters) are quite stunning.

also they are quite comical in the way that they try to pluck up the courage to take advantage of food that other birds discover. However, our guinea pigs do distrust them! (probably rightly so)

Thanks for your replies she is very close to me and I think she is generally special. She seems to be the ooposite of the supposed aggresive chick eating crow they are known as by some. She is close to many peoplein the local area as well

I love magpies they are one of my fav birds, But it has always amazed me that such a beautiful Bird can have such ugly Chicks
