I have known this to happen, a lot of the local population of collar doves to be taken. I have found the daily remains, these were being used to feed a brood of s/hawks. Can you remember what time of the year this was?. As Dogghound said It does not mean yours was down to s/hawks.

Its quite unusual for sparrowhawks to feed the young nestlings largely on collard doves, I am assuming this is when the young were near fledging?
