It seems we have solved the mystery of the bird I keep seeing.
I will definitely make sure I take some binoculars with me from now on, I do need to invest in a decent camera as not sure the one I have will be high res enough to capture it properly.
I feel so privileged to have seen it so close to me
Lets hope I see it again soon |

| | | Re: What is this mystery bird of prey? Female or juvenile pallid Harrier maybe ? not its favoured perch as they often perch on the floor ,however there are photos on google with them in trees.Rare passage birds in the uk but there are a few in the uk at the moment.
I went to see one today in somerset. |

It's tail is too long and it seems too thin to be what I saw.
What I saw was rather chunky, with a massive wing span. On close inspection of the photos of the Red Kite's head I am certain this is what it was.
The head had white around it, which is what made it look Vulture-like to me.
I am certain it was the Kite. |
