| | | Unidentified bird
I saw this little bird at Slimbridge. At first and because of its size, I thought it was a wren. However, it was hopping around frenetically at the top of a tree, and not the correct shape. Unfortunately, its head is not quite turned in the right direction so it is not possible to look at the top. The nearest I can find in my books is a goldcrest. It would be marvellous if it were. I was unable to get a better pic, and was also immediately distracted by a tree creeper. I was accompanied by my wife and younger son who had moved on elsewhere; so I could not really spend as much time in any one spot as I would have liked. Another time, maybe.
Any bright ideas, please?
Thanks
Colin
PS I did NOT see the bittern. I went to the Zeiss hide and met two regulars who pointed out the bittern's haunt - we were the only three people in that hide - mid-week! I also met an old geezer with a 20D and, I think, a bigma - although he did not recognize that term. He had seen the tree creeper last year but without his camera, so I pointed him in the right direction. He had not shaved, so I do not think that he could have been a WABer! |

| | | Re: Unidentified bird I agree, definitely a Goldcrest Colin. Well done it's better than anything photo I've ever managed of one. They are so fast by the time I've found one they are gone before I can press the button.
