Little Ringed Plover

Just a quick one - the little ringed plover - is it migratory? if so where does it go to? and when? and also will it return to the same place next year?

Hi Phil,

A lot leave around September traveling south below the Sahara, although there are some that are residents across Europe and Asia and will winter around the Med.

They then return to breeding ground around April I think.

Early arrival in March down south and the last of the juveniles will be leaving around now. They will return to generally the same areas if the breeding habitat is suitable and hasn't changed.

little ringed plover usually breed mid april on the old steelworks down by me along with ringed plover and lapwing. came across 4 eggs april 17th, either crows or foxes destroyed them and layed second clutch of 4 ten days later and hatched succesfully
