The weather here is terrible but this morning it was just a light drizzle so I'd thought I would walk to work with my camera....I think the people around here think I'm mad!
Before I left I chucked some bread out of the back door, went back inside to grab my scarf and three hoodies were in the pathway!
Walked down through the Castle grounds and saw my blue tits, wrens and robins (too dim and they are also too fast to take pics). Saw some ravens and more hoodies on the trees. Thought I would try and get a couple more shots of the rooks nests as its the only place on the island that has rooks, because its the only place that has the trees! As I craned my neck and pointed my camera into the sky, they are about 100-150ft up, a grey bird flew through the trees. It was a heron and landed in what I first took as a Rook nest but could then see it was too big.
Here is a blurry picture of the nest and you can just make out the neck and beak of the heron.
Just to clarify the nest was about 100-150 ft up and I was quite away from the tree so I was
nowhere near the Heron to disturb it, which you can see by the bad quality of the picture.
It was an interesting walk to work, which I got in 10 minutes late as I was trying to get some shots of a curlew nosing through the tidal bay seaweed, afterwards, but too dim, not me the light!!
Its now pouring as we speak and doesn't look good for the weekend hunt for the white billed divers

Sorry John

I will try if not dangerously windy. Whats getting soaking wet between birders, as I rely on the buses on Lewis to take me out and about!!
