Perhaps I should explain. The Telegraph has it that:-
" Stinking Bishop is washed in a Gloucestershire perry made from a pear called Stinking Bishop.
The Pear was named after a reprobate farmer with an appalling reputation of a drunkard, who famously shot his kettle when it took too long to boil."
Nice...there is character in cheese

Nice...there is character in cheese | I do agree with him about the kettle.

I really enjoyed reading all your responces - thanks very much! Secondary school was not a happy time for me (i left 10 years ago however!)
I did meet a lovely chap named Robin in a bird hide in Cornwall around Christmas time. He was such a charactor and gave us a little tour of his favourite spots in the area. I really should have sent him a card/letter or something by now but haven't. Perhaps the godwit appearing in place of the robin (whether it was actually the robin's nest?) represents my general feeling that i'm far more comfortable in the company of birds, beasts and mushrooms then i often am with human types. I wondered as well whether godwit refered to religious guilt of some kid. Bar tail could be 'bar trail' - i probably drink too much vino.
In terms of the way i felt during the dream - i was very excited when i saw the birds but massively concerned for the godwit when he would'nt take his bill back. Thats felt horrible and i felt totally responsible. I wondered in the dream for a moment whether they shed their bill's annually and grow a new one?!!?? . Perhaps that does refer to the changes of autumn - birds migrating, leaves falling off the tree's.
I suppose the main thing was that i lost my teeth and the bird lost his bill - i feel this must represent something negative or difficult. Jason Claxton 'The sea would take away your very foundations and build them up somewhere else, all jumbled up,with yourself or possibly not together'. Last night i dreamt i was in Penzance and the waves were crashing up against me - i was nearly drowning. All i found floating in the water was a plastic childs mobile phone toy - not a real one.
I think i must have some unresolved issues to deal with and possibly big time at that
I'm a happy sort generally and do muddle along well.
On the plus side, i'm off for a month on Tuesday for a birding road trip around new England, Nova Scotia etc. Trip of my life! Really shouldn't have anything to be troubled about.
Thanks again for all the posts - really has given me a great deal of insight!!!

| | | Re: dream analysis - a weird one! I had a bird dream last night. I was watching Blackbirds and some were thicker set. The "male" of these had a blue sheen, although the head remained black. The bill was thicker too - very thick near the base. The "female" had a paler bill. I not only do not know what this means, I don't even know what bird I was watching (no change there then ).

Little Auk (26 year old female fyi | Enjoy your bird watching visit! I lived in Boston, Massachusetts, for a couple of years, and was fascinated by the birds there. We even had a sea eagle visit the slow-moving river (aka swamp!) at the bottom of our garden once! That was in the autumn, too, so maybe you'll be lucky! And no more bird dreams... | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
