| | | Nesting LT Tit Hi
Our local LTT are busy nest building already. Has anyone else noticed this happening around their area? Below is a record shot ( i was so trying to get pics before it flew off and had camera set to autofocus, so was hard to lock on to the bird! Will use manual focus next time!!)

| | | Re: Nesting LT Tit I've seen a fair few Long tailed tits over the past few months in the woods that join onto a beach near where i live, that's the only place i've seen them here until the day before yesterday when we had one on our feeder. It's not been back that i'm aware of but i'll keep an eye out. It might be worth a trip into the woods to see if i can find any nesting. |

| | | Re: Nesting LT Tit My little gang of long tailed tits is disappearing fast. It was down to two last week, and the last few days only one, so I'm feeling very sad. I wouldn't have thought they stopped still long enough to fall prey to a cat or a magpie.

| | | Re: Nesting LT Tit Hi everyone,
Over a period of 30 years or so, I have often found Long-tailed Tits building nests in mid-February, but have never found their nest to be complete before mid-March. Given the thousands of feathers, bits of moss, lichens and spiders' webs that they use to build the nest, I think it must take a period of several weeks to completely build the nest. Certainly, it has always taken the LOTTIs I have watched that long at least to build. Does anyone know of any quicker builders?
