So it's back to the fruit drawing board for me!! | They'll only eat them in the cold of the winter when there aren't any insects or worms about. I don't think they particularly like them, but rather just eat them to survive. That's my perception anyway |

| | | Re: Birds & fruit... Blackbirds have been pecking out my windfalls and just leaving a shell of skin. They are also eating the pears still on the tree! I think they want the moisture this weather.

| | Re: Birds & fruit... i have a smallish pear tree that produces fruit every year , i always like to leave a few pears on the tree .to feed the birds and the wasps this time of year . i know it sounds silly but it makes me feel that i'm giving something back to nature instead of just taking all she gives. |

If it's crawling with insects, it's a double bonus for them |

| | | Re: Birds & fruit... we have a fig tree, and I have to be quick to get the ripe figs, as the blackbirds seem to know exactly when they are ready. but they don't eat fallen ones, or ones I put down once I've picked them if i realise they've been pecked.
