Chiffchaff already?

hi all. I am almost certain i heard a chiffchaff calling today. I know they are one of the first migrants to arrive but isnt it a bit early for them? Just wondering. Thanks guys .

It is definetely possible that it is a Chiffchaff. Recently quite a few have started overwintering, along with Blackcaps, so the bird you heard is most likely to be one of these rather than an early migrant.

Agree, and a few have been reported as singing already so you more than likely did hear one.

Yes-I've heard them here in Kent. That was about 2 weeks ago too.
