| | | Disappearing blackbirds We usually have at least 4 resident blackbirds in the garden but have not sighted any for the past few months.Has anyone else experienced this??
We do have many more pigeons taking advantage of the bird food, my concern is some sort of disease which they may be carrying or that they are scaring off other birds. There is definately a reduction in all ground feeding birds such as chaffinches as well.
I don't know how to stop the pigeons unless I stop feeding the birds all together.Any ideas |

| | | Re: Disappearing blackbirds This is an annual event.Blackbirds are either in moult or taking advantage of the large crop in the fields and hedgerows. They will be back to the gardens During November.

| | | Re: Disappearing blackbirds Welcome to the forum! Dont worry about your blackbirds - they'll be back, begging for food, as soon as the weather gets colder... Last winter during the cold spell I had as many as 20 waiting for me! Got quite stressful, making sure they were all fed before I could leave for work... |
