If it wasn't heavily cropped and magnified would it be recognisable as a peregrine, let alone the sex of the bird? It's just my turn of phrase, Roy.

The two images shown in the OP (at 600mm and heavily cropped) show that it is recognisable as a peregrine although wing and body shape would probably be enough to ID it without enhancement. Without the benefit of such an image, I'll never know.
