Sparrow With White Wing Bars

It looks pretty normal to me- they have white tips to the median coverts which create a white bar here, though does look quite conspicuous in this photo.

I'm sure it's a common enough anomaly, it's just quite pronounced in this case and that's what drew it to my attention. You know how it is, you look but you don't see! If you know what I mean. lol.

I wondered if it was a chaffinch, but I've not seen any adults in the garden. The bars go right across both wings and when looking at from above look they go across the back too. It looks lovely in flight as the bars are about half an inch thick. Must try and get a photo
