Great news indeed + perhaps slightly surprising given the harsh winter weather we had which can have a negative impact on this species.

A magical bird to see + hear.

Great news about the bitterns
Currently Rotherham council are trying to go ahead with a plan to build a chinese theme park near rother valley on land that as had an over wintering bittern for several years http://http://ofpiesandbirds.blogspo...-whispers.html explains it better than I do (plus some good pics of the wildlife around the area apart from the bittern.)
