| | | The Autumn Redwings Is this early arrival normal or is it a sign we are going to have another good year of Scandinavian migrants? Hope we have another good Waxwing year, they were the highlight of my Winter last year.

| | | Re: The Autumn Redwings September is about normal for the migration to start coming in, only in small numbers, and it'll pick up as the weeks go on. Hopefully will be as good as last year! Better get those berry bushes planted

| | | Re: The Autumn Redwings Like Nige says, the first Redwings start to trickle into the country during September (with a few August arrivals in some years), but I wouldn't expect most people to see them until at least towards the end of the month when they tend to start arriving in larger numbers. Peak arrival is usually during October, with additional birds sometimes arriving later in the winter as a result of cold weather movements.
So with small numbers being seen at the moment things are normal. If they arrive in large numbers during the next couple of weeks it will be a bit ahead of schedule though. |

| | | Re: The Autumn Redwings I've not seen any myself this year yet, but there's a report of a single Fieldfare seen in Nethybridge.
