| | | When can I have my shed back! The picture was taken on the 29 August and was the first time I had seen the fledglings, any idea of how long they stay around the nest, I would really like my potting shed back because I have a lot of the garden tools/mowers stuffed in my office and its a bit cramped and just a bit incongrous with hoe's and rakes hanging off my server rack. |

| | | Re: When can I have my shed back! Those that bred in the Men's toilet at the Elmley RSPB Reserve went very quickly indeed. I think they may have done one more night in their nest after they started flying. Then there were a couple of days when they were hanging around in the vicinity being fed as they perched on branches etc. I think I saw them being fed on the wing the next day and then they became just part of the local flock.
On that basis I reckon yours will be gone from the shed today or tomorrrow.
Cheers,
Bryan

| | | Re: When can I have my shed back! They wont hang around for longer than a week, I would expect them to go far sooner than this. They are not dependent on the nest and often only hang around it to roost and be fed by the adults for a couple of days after fledging. |

Cheers,
Bryan | Thanks Bryan, didn't see them yesterday, in fact didn't see any swallows at all, plenty of house martens still. Quote:

I will give it a couple of days then clean up the quite sizeable pile of guano and put my stuff back. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
