Kingfishers at mere sand's wood

Hi everyone,

Im thinking of poping up to mere sand's wood, lancishire over the weekend to try and photograph kingfishers, but does any body know which is the best hide to see them from & have they been showing recently,

I suggest you GOOGLE for a blog or equivalent that gives recent sightings for that location. Bound to be one/more than one somewhere, it's just a matter of finding it.

All I've found so far in a very quick search was this comment for that location,

"and of course the Common Kingfisher which can be seen frequently from any of the hides."

I'm only going through my first year of bird photography but my understanding is that Kingfisher activity will be past it's peak for this year now, unless a pair anywhere are still raising a late brood. So I'd take the "frequently" comment with care. I have spent nine hours sitting in a hide from 05.30 at a known Kingfisher perching/fishing location outside of the full breeing season and only seen a blue flash pass by a great speed twice in that entire watch.
