Where have all the birds gone?:

Up until early August we had a fair selection of species in the garden and at the feeders. But for the last three weeks nothing but a pair of wood pigeons.
Is this normal at this time of year?
I'm in Hornchurch Essex by the way.

No doubt in the hedge,field or wood.Some may still be in moult and keeping out of the sight of predators.Plenty of natural food for them out there at the moment.Also may be establishing their territory.Will be back to feeders when seeds or insects are hider to find in cooler weather.

In a nutshell - yes

Always quietest time of the year for garden birds. As it gets colder and natural food disappears they'll start to come back or you'll get other stopping in on migration route.
