| | | Barn owls and Jackdaws/others I have read that ' measures aimed at reducing the chances of entry (in to barn owl boxes) by other species are to be encouraged provided they do not significantly reduce the box's suitability for barn owl. Any practical ideas/thoughts or experience on how to achieve this please. |

Ask Suffolk Wildlife Trust.
They have a project on Barn Owls, now in fourth or fifth year (?) and have about 4-500 hundred boxes up and being monitored. There is a hotspot on the Suffolk coast and they are trying to encourage Barn Owls which are already showing movement West.
I think their attitude is that other critters will use the boxes so you just provide lots and lots. Males often use a second box for day roosting too. |
