| | | complicated song i have just heard a bird singing that had an incredibly complicated song. It was made up of lots of trills and a huge variety of notes. Does anyone have any ideas as to what it could be? |

I love watching them sitting on the highest branch of a tree singing away. I'm sure they make it up as they go along.

| | | Re: complicated song I think it's a song thrush that is singing every morning while it is still dark outside my house. That has a huge variety to it. Robins also are very varied.

| | | Re: complicated song At the moment I would say it could be Robin, Blackbird, Wren, Dunnock or the two Thrushes. |

| | | Re: complicated song Difficult from that description. Personally I wouldn't have described Robin as having lots of trills. From that the 2 species which come to mind are Song Thrush or Greenfinch. Have you tried looking for the bird Vinny? - it's a good way to learn bird song- you hear an unfamiliar song + try to find that bird (not easy with all species,eg Cetti's Warbler) + then in future you will remember that song. You may have to repeat this several times before it's imprinted in your mind if it doesn't come naturally- some people are better than others at memorising sounds.
Let us know what it was, if you hear this song again. Good to learn the resident songsters now before the summer visitors add to the chorus from next month. |
