| | | ID from feather Hi. Anyone know where I can ID the bird which gave up this feather, or if you know, please let me know! If it helps, picked up on the beach in Ayrshire.
Also, interesting markings in the sand, repetitive and down into the waters edge - any ideas?
Thanks. |

| | | Re: ID from feather In case it is not obvious, the markings in the sand are initially a hole then several interrupted near scrapes then another hole and repeat. Some of the directions changed after the hole in at least 4/5 repeats. Quote:

| | | Re: ID from feather No ideas on the feather but the marks in the sand look like someone was walking along with a stick/walking pole and just skimming it across the sand between steps. Obviously if there were no footprints alongside you could rule this out

Andy | Didn't see any footprints or the body floating in the sea where the track entered the water. |

| | | Re: ID from feather I am terrible at feather identification... but I know someone who happened to find some feathers that look just like this- and they were peregrine, and she found them in Scotland.
I did a Google image search, and there are quite a few similar ones... so maybe?? Beautiful find, no matter what it is! |

| | | Re: ID from feather There are a large number of curlew around at the moment. A flock flew over this lunchtime containing a dozen or more, then another later on with maybe 6.
Thanks for the help. |
