| | | Dunnocks In my garden I have what I thought to be a family of four dunnocks. This morning I was watching a bird that I took to be one of them, until I looked closer and realised that this bird had absolutely no tail, as opposed to the dunnocks' relatively long one.
Are there any dunnock like birds with relatively short tails, or is it one that's had some sort of incident.
I'm aware we are in the middle of moulting season, but they aren't supposed to moult an entire tail at the same time!
If I see itagain I will try and get a picture!
Cheers,

Well it came back at the same time as the rest of the family, and it's definitely one of them, so a cat attack (or similar) seems likely...
On the plus side, he seems to be eating, walking and flying with no real issues so hopefully no long term damage *crosses fingers*
I'll be keeping am eye out for him, be interesting to see if/when his tail does grow back! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
