| | | Please can someone identify this bird? The last few days when I have been walking my dog, right by a stream and also beside a wheat field, I have heard what sounds like a bird, but it sounds like sort of bubbling noise. I heard it again today when walking on the road by a hedgerow, but also beside the wheat field again. I can't see where the sound is coming from exactly, as it stops when I get closer. It almost sounds like a gurgling sound, but it is definitely a bird. Can anyone help please. Thank you. |

| | | Re: Please can someone identify this bird? its difficult to describe a red legged partridge call but its very loud and strange sounding , you could try listening on the rspb site and see what you think. |

| | | Re: Please can someone identify this bird? Thank you Shrike. I will listen again either today or tomorrow and see if i can make better sense of the bird call that I hear. I went on the RSPB website and went through all the birds that I thought it might be, ie small birds near farmland, but it could be a bigger bird. Thanks again for your help. |

| | | Re: Please can someone identify this bird? Thank you all for your replies. In fact, I have just been out for a walk again in the same area and heard it again, but couldn't see it. However, reading another posting on this forum, I looked up a quail, and that is what it is! I don't why I thought it sounded like bubbling water. Problem solved! Again, many thanks for being so helpful. |
