Coot eating fish

Hi folks, we were out & about yesterday & spotted this Coot, he caught & started to eat this fish
He caught it by the tail & whacked it aroud a bit & then kept pecking it to open it up & then tucked in. I thought they only eat weed
These photos are my husbands as mine didn`t come out too good.

They are omnivorous they feed predominantly on vegetation but the diet does also contain moderate levels of invertebrates. They regularly eat small fish such as sticklebacks, minnows and fry of larger species, they also feed on fish eggs. They have been recorded feeding on small amphibians, amphibian larvae and even small mammals.
