Bird Songs ID Book/CD recommendations

Looking for a bird song ID book/CD suitable for beginners, any recommendations greatly appreciated.

My wife got me this book:

Bird: The Ultimate Illustrated Guide to the Birds of Britain and Europe: Amazon.co.uk: Rob Hume, Peter Hayman: Books

I've seen it in WH Smiths I think for about a fiver sometimes, it comes with a CD with loads of sound and info on.

I know I didn't pay anywhere near as much for mine! And it doesn't look like that comes with the CD. Link was just for example as mine is the exact same book

Just looked at this RSPB Complete Birds of Britain and Europe: Amazon.co.uk: Rob Hume: Books. Hmm might be interested in this one myself - although I have a few books already

I found this one a few months ago. I don't know if it is widely available and it only covers garden birds, though there are 99 of them, but if you can find it for this price I think it is well worth it.

I heartily recommend the Birdguides 'DVD-ROM Guide to British Birds ver9'. It costs £39.95. It was a lot more than that when I bought it the year before last. Along with my Collins Bird Guide it is a valuable part of my bird watching library.

I have a copy of the
'bird songs and calls '
of britain and europe....
collins field guide
has 2 cd's and is by geoff sample....over 2 hrs of calls , i have found it a good little book.
no pictures mind..
