| | | Re: Which Pipit? I can see why this could be a rock pipit, but there are elements that don't quite fit for me. The tones of this bird look 'warmer' than the greyer tones and strong diffuse spotting I associate with rock pipits. The spotting on this bird looks a little light. I'm tempted to say a worn meadow pipit, though this bird does have the heavier looking bill and darker legs that would fit best with rock pipit. The habitat appears good for rock pipit too! Perhaps it's a young un?
I'll wait and see what others say.

There is some variability in all birds, but the leg colour, heavy bill, rather plain back, and 'dirty' underparts all say Rock'it. |
