| | | Could this be a Marsh Harrier? I was driving my mother-in law home to Woodhall Spa from the village of Timberland. In the distance I saw a bird which was less 'square' than a Buzzard, but not quite as streamlined as a Red Kite, flying across the fields at a low altitude. It then landed about 150m away. As my mother in law is 96 and partially sighted this was not an opportunity to get any closer to the bird. A quick 'snap' would have to do.
I was struck by the light head. It spent a long time on the ground (well at least the 4 minutes I could spend there).
I would be interested in your expert views (I have other, equally distant pics with the bird side-on if it would help?) |

Now you say it, it looks rather Red Kite to me too.
I guess you will believe this confirms it.
Thanks for your diagnosis |
