| | | Re: Help please. I want to photo a wild Tawny Owl! Hi mate, just noticed this thread. All I can add really is the best way I have found roosting sites is to go to your wood an hour before dark then wait and listen. The local Blackbirds will find it long before you do. There alarm calls will help you pin down a smallish area where the roost site will be. Also like others have said they do sometimes call through the day, I have found that this more commonily happend in conifer woods on dull days. Im guessing they think its close to dusk? Good luck.

I don't think I'll ever get this close in the wild! LOL!
Cheers,
Bryan

| | | Re: Help please. I want to photo a wild Tawny Owl! I was out last weekend in a local wood hoping to see some red squirrels and when I looked up into a huge horse chestnut tree I saw a big brown patch and when I looked through the viewfinder I realised it was a tawny owl. I couldn't believe my luck. Managed a couple of ok photos but it was just such a treat to see it. However I'll probably not see another one for months but I will keep looking! Good luck with your search. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
