| | | Who would have hatched from and egg like this? Out on the golf course last week , tearing the fairways in the golf buggy when I almost ran over this little beauty.
Has any body got an ideas who laid it.
There was no lakes, ponds in the immediate area. It was predatted.. ( should have took a picture)

| | | Re: Who would have hatched from and egg like this? Lapwing is probably the most likely ... base colour and markings can vary a lot in the eggs of that species. The general shape is consistent with the form of the eggs laid by plovers and some waders.
It's rather late though, even for a second clutch ... unless it has lain undisturbed for quite a while. |
