| | | Re: No garden birds Yeah, it's a tad quiet in the garden. Plenty of sparrows still. The goldfinches have done a runner though, but the local fields are full of them. Give it another month...... |

| | | Re: No garden birds I haven't even seen a sparrow for over a week. I only really noticed the absence when the bird feeders still had seed in them. I usually fill them up every day. It the quiet that is really eerie. It's like nighttime in the daytime.
I can't say it was the same last year. Ot maybe it wasn't.
So where do all the house and tree sparrows go? |

| | | Re: No garden birds Yes, where do they go? I fill my feeders every day, but I haven't had to fill them since Friday. Even the blackbirds, who can see me moving about the kitchen and then land on the door handle or windowsill to let me know they want currants are nowhere to be seen.
I've been feeding birds for years and this is the first I've ever noticed this.
I've been looking out for Wee Rab, the robin. He disappeared in April this year and did the same thing last April, then re-appeared on 10th August, last year. I really hope he comes back. |

| | | Re: No garden birds I didn't see any robins, wrens, blue tits or great tits after they fledged but the robin and wrens reappeared last week. Of course they don't get a look in because of many, many starlings! |

| | | Re: No garden birds Hi Pattie
Same thing in my garden in Yorkshire. We occasionally get a passing sparrowhawk that seems to disperse the small birds for a few days. Pigeons and the woodpeckers don't seem to be bothered though.
Hope you get them back soon.

| | | Re: No garden birds Very quiet in our garden too. Up to the beginning of July our feeders were very busy and the 'bird show' continued all day Now we see the odd chaffinch, greenfinch, sparrow and robin, even the wood pigeons and starlings are fewer in number. I shall be optimistic and encouraged by previous comments that they will all return |

| | | Re: No garden birds ive had quite a few birds in my garden recently---blackbirds feeding on fruit and squabbling with songthrush, numerous tits, wood pigeons,a variety of finches and spotted a pair of blackcaps yesterday. the magpies that nested in one of my trees still visit daily and more surprisingly, a robin sings occasionally--havent been aware of them doing this before so early in august.
