| | | Baby Sparrow found on patio. This morning i woke to lots of frantic chirping in my garden, i went out to investigate and there was a little baby sparrow hopping about, he was chirping like crazy, jumping about and shaking an fluffing himself up.. one of his parents were near by coming to see him every now and then.. obviously having a a little chirp back at him. I watched this for a while and had a panic. Cats!! I watched the bird for a good half hour and both parents were back and forth to him.. The bird could not fly as even though he had feathers they did not look fully formed. He had no where to go as i have a 4 foot fence along the bottom of the privit. The mum and dad bird were in and out of the privit and i know there are a few nests in there as my partner wont cut it yet as there is lots of activity. There are a few bald patches and openings in the privet where the mum and dad were coming from. So after watching this i picked the little bird up and poped him in the privit.. mum and dad are both in there and they have moved further in, its like a little jungle in there so cant see them now, Still lots of chirping but not as frantic as it was.
I just hope i did the right thing.. as i couldnt bare the cats to get him. |

| | | Re: Baby Sparrow found on patio. Sounds like you did the right thing. At least it has a much better chance in the hedge where it can hop about in the branches even if it's not able to fly it can still get out of harms way. |

| | | Re: Baby Sparrow found on patio. Fantastic... thanks for the reply. I have just gone out to investigete and mum and dad are still flying in and out of the privit with food. So hopefully he scrambled his way back to the nest. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
