Bald Jay!

3 days ago I put up some bird feeders in my garden, they have already attracted many tits and robins but there is one sighting that truly boggles my mind.
Earlier today I saw a Jay on the sunflower hearts that seemed to have no feathers on its head, revealing a grey skin, rather like a fox with mange. I got a photo I will try to upload but the problem is that you can barely make out the problem unless you zoom in. Anyways, I was wandering if anyone would know the cause of this enigma???

Possibly irregular moult or just the stresses of the breeding season taking their toll. Its quite common to see bald birds at this time of year.

i have a pair of magpies one is bald the other one is almost bald
as DH not unusal
