We've just moved to Scotland and I am having trouble identifying this visitor to our garden, it's about the size of a Common Woodpecker, climbs and hangs off the trunk of the trees in a similar way to a woodpecker. Apologies for the poor photos, they were taken from quite away away through double glazing and it was raining quite hard.

Looks like it could be a juvenile Starling, but i'm not 100% sure on that. Hopefully someone else will confirm, or give you a correct answer if it's something else.

Thanks you.
We have lots of starlings in and out of the garden both juvenile and adults but this bird in a lot larger, a different shape and always alone which was why I thought it was not a starling at first. |
