| | | Re: Goldfinch nesting Hi,
My neighbour also has a pair of nesting goldfinches in his front garden at present. Also, the number of goldfinches in my area has increased quite a bit in the last couple of years. Probably because of all the niger seed people are putting in feeders.

| | | Re: Goldfinch nesting They could potentially lay eggs up until early August, they have been known the have 3 broods although 1/2 is the norm. These birds could even be failed breeders attempting again. |

| | | Re: Goldfinch nesting Just watching the Goldfinch looks like they are just finnishing building this nest in my next door neighbours tree.its at the top end off the tree not much protection from magpies or the weather if they lay eggs.

| | | Re: Goldfinch nesting But its good protection from cats, squirrels, stoats, weasels, rats, humans. The really high small twigs can be hard for corvids to balance their weight on which may also work in the goldfinch's favour. The weather can wash these nests out though, will be interesting viewing for the next few weeks, let us know how they get on. |
