Anyone else getting great flocks of jackdaws this year? We usually get a couple of small family groups around, when the youngsters are still following their parents about, but this year there are loads more than usual.
They arrive at first light and start making a h£ll of a racket, which is a pain when we sleep with windows open. Hubby saw them outside yesterday afternoon, and counted atleast 40. We have given up feeding the birds at the moment as they either wreck our feeders, or unhook them and carry them away. We just cannot believe how many are around this year - it literally goes dark when they fly over! Its just like something out of Hitchcock! Anyone else seeing them? |

You are right Werd, for last two years I've been seeing flocks of 40 or so,
never seen that before. Also seen far more Jays than ever before.
I dont know the reason. |

A chap at work was telling me the other day that he has 30-40 Jackdaws at a time in his garden, costing him a fortune in fat balls! Most years he has just two or three Jackdaws visiting occasionally. | | |
