| | | Re: Long shot ID Blackbirds have a call when they have young fledgiings out and about, which is like this. I've had a quick look around online but can't find an example at the moment. I have seen it referred to as the "seee" or "ceee" call, as that is what it sounds like. They use it to warn their youngsters to keep still and quiet when there is a threat nearby.
You didn't say where you've heard it, but if there are blackbirds around, its possibly this.
I had a feeling there was a recent post about it. Its here: Blackbird Note Info

| | | Re: Long shot ID I think I know the call the mean, it sounds like one the Starling does. I'll try and find a clip for you...
Can't find one at the moment! Starling's are great mimics, my bet would be it was a Starling.

Their calls are varied depending on their habitat and location, causing upset when continuously trilling, warbling or peeping. |

PS Portsmouth area | At this time of year it is probably young Moorhens. they have driven me mad when Chub Fishing on hot days on The Warwickshire Avon many a time with their incessant squeaking. Young Dunnocks do this as well. but my guess is Moorhens. |
