Bird ID please

Hi Out on Lismore last weekend Scottish West Coast and saw a very destinctive black bird with a white head - it had the shape of a garden black bird but was larger - about magpie size and also hoped round hunting in grass in a similar way to the magpie. I believe it had a prominant but not long beak that was pale yellow or orange. The white head became patchy in the shoulder area and graded into the black body. A very destinctive bird that I thought I'd spot in a bird book but wish now I'd paid more attention.

Hi Peat, welcome to WAB, the only one that springs to mind for me is a jackdaw, although their head is grey., and they dont have a yellow bill, it might be a partly albino blackbird. Cant think of anything else offhand.

Sounds more Chough like apart from the White.

Cheers for the input ... yep I'm now thinking albino blackbird but the island setting made me think exotic - but I also did think chough like ... I'll get my pals opinion on the size, but thanks again.
