| | | Exposed nest. Whilst cutting the hedge back this morning I accidently exposed a nest (I hasten to add it was not damaged!!). Are the adults likely to leave the nest alone from now on? It would be a shame as there are definately two possibly three chicks in there.

I would be very surprised if the young were abandoned, most birds are programmed to feeding and caring for them once they are hatched. They may become targets for other predators though.

Will do. I have this morning seen Dunnocks in and out of the hedge so fingers crossed. I also notice a Collard Dove sat on eggs in our apple tree yesterday afternoon - thankfully well out of reach of me and the electric shears!!

Well it just goes to show that you never can tell, at least I can't anyway! I saw some movment in the nest this about 10 minutes ago then out popped an adult Greenfinch from the nest!! Young are looking very healthy. |
