| | | Brilliant news - lone parent swallow - update Thrilled to tell you that one fledgling made its maiden flight this morning!! Flew up on to the guttering on a neighbour's roof - where it was fed by parent - who then fed the three remaining in the nest. It has now returned to the nest - I guess it won't be long before the others stretch their wings now! |

| | | Re: Brilliant news - lone parent swallow - update Lovely news. Let's hope we get some warm nights for a good insect crop to give them a good start before they fly away for the winter.

| | | Re: Brilliant news - lone parent swallow - update Thanks both of you - can't tell you what an anxious time this has been - we dearly love 'our' swallows and I have felt like an anxious parent!! Nothing I could do to help but watch, wait and hope. I will put some pics on soon when I have sorted how to do it. Won't be long before they are all perched up on the washing line!! |

| | | Re: Brilliant news - lone parent swallow - update I will make a definite effort with pics tonight. I have already got 2 - one taken when they were peeping over edge of nest and the second one when they were more visible. I will go now - wait for parent to come into feed - and nip out and take one of them 'overflowing' the nest! |
