Feather id help please.

Hi,

i found this feather this evening in the farm yard where I live and was wondering if someone could id it. (and no its not a chicken as there are none on the farm

)

It is about 6" long and 1 1/4" wide.
I'm in North Norfolk in a rural location with a varied habitat.
Any ideas greatly appreciated.

It's a Tawny Owl. That furry surface to the feather is very characteristic of owls, and you don't see it on other birds. It's there to muffle the sound as they fly.

Thanks for that. I thought it was but just wanted confirmation. I was listening to a couple calling to each other fairly close by last night just after midnight.
