Sparrowhawk afternoon meal.

Yesterday afternoon I was looking out of my kitchen window watching the Starlings feed on the dried mealworms I had just put down when a female Sparrowhawk suddenly came down and took a young starling. Every other bird immediately fled and the sparrowhawk proceeded to dine on the starling. I immediately went and got my camera and here are some of the shots I took. The sparrowhawk stayed about 20 minutes until it was harassed by a lone brave male Blackbird. The sparrowhawk decided to depart with the remains of its meal.

good pics clearly showing how it makes the ring of feathers we often find in our gardens, as for mr blackbird wonder if it would have been so brave if the sprawk wasn't so preoccupied with its meal
