| | | Animals held in zoos I'm researching Cattle Egret and would like to know which zoos hold this species worldwide (particularly Europe).
Do anyone know of a searchable database which stores information on animals which are kept in zoos in Europe? |

| | | Re: Animals held in zoos I'm not sure if they need to be ringed/licensed in the UK, with a Schedule 10 for trade, but if they do then you should easily be able to get this info from Natural England and equivalents through a FoI request.
But there are also lots of private collectors that could hold them. Plenty of people have e.g. White Storks, probably more than in British zoos. In Europe, where national laws can be less stringent and observed than in the UK, then you might have more trouble. Ireland and the Low Countries/Germany are very keen on birdkeeping.
There isn't an international database listing which zoos/colelctions have what, as far as I know. |

| | | Re: Animals held in zoos For captive birds in zoological collections your best bet would be to get in touch with the Zoological Society of London at London Zoo (who have Cattle Egrets in their collection). This would be your best bet for further detailed info also.
Cheers,
