| | | Bird ID help needed ! Hi all, I'm hoping that you can help.
I have recently heard a bird call around 10pm, when it was almost completely dark. It is very familiar but I just can't place it !
Sounds like too-it too-it. I live on the edge of a midlands town close to fields , coppices and the river Severn. |

Got to agree it does sound like Tawny Owl. The male and female have different calls. The classic t-wit t-whoo call associated with Tawnys is actually two birds calling with the female normally answering the males call. You may have heard just the male.

| | | Re: Bird ID help needed ! We certainly have 1 tawny owl, which makes the 'who who' noise. This is more of a high pitched cry or shriek, could it be the counterpark responding ? |

| | | Re: Bird ID help needed ! Could be, the response call is usually more of a 'kee-wick' than a 'too-whit'.
