Update on our lone parent swallow

The 4 babies fledged successsfully - came back and perched on the washing line at night for about 10 days. Sadly, the last few days they were there, there were only 3 babies and 1 adult. About 2 weeks ago the lone parent returned and I could hear him tweeting near the nest. Four days ago two adults were tweeting near the nest - and have done so each day since - early morning. I know it is too late for them to breed again this year but hope that he has found a new mate and they were bonding and will return next year to nest (or am I just being an old romantic?)
