| | | Harrier and Buzzard Back in April I built myself a small hide under a bush. I left it for the birds to get used to for a while then last week I started baiting it every day with a rabbit.
I sat there for a couple of hours yesterday afternoon and was rewarded with a few shots of the Harriers and a Buzzard.
This little lady came in and fed for a while then took off trying to take the rabbit with her.
Good job I had pegged it down.
I then had a Buzzard drop in for a snack. Interestly they seem to be a much more aggressive bird than the Harriers seeing off everything else that came in to feed. |

When I start baiting an area I put the bait approx 30 metres from the hide.
I place the bait a couple of metres closer each day until I get to around 20 metres, that is the distance these shots were taken from.
I have found that if the bait is any closer than this I only seem to get crows and magpies. Birds of prey are very nervous and are reluctant to land.

Yes they are flies. They are always about drawn to the rabbit carcass. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
