| | | Are these Wagtails? I managed to snap these today in the garden, and am quite excited because I've not seen these before. I think they might be wagtails, but I wanted to be sure.
Sorry about the quality of the photos- it was quite dark under the tree where the feeder is, and they were so quick- darting in and out, most of the pics were just blurs.
I think the bird on the left is the parent, because it did appear to be feeding the one on the right- and at one point there were four of them. They do love those fatballs! (The store-bought ones were clearly preferred to the suet block I lovingly made by hand yesterday- hmmph! ) |

| | | Re: Are these Wagtails? LT tits, lovely little birds. Usually found in small flocks and tend to be very much creatures of habit. Back when we had snow on the ground they would come at the same time every day, just before dark, have a frantic feed of peanuts/fat balls, then dash off as suddenly as they arrived. Infact you often hear them before you see them, as they are very elusive little birds - like mice scuttling around in the hedgrows.
Good photos too - well done! |

| | | Re: Are these Wagtails? That's great- thanks, because I never would have guessed that.
We've had coal tits, great tits, and blue tits, so it's nice to have another member of the family - in fact, I did notice that there was a coal tit flitting about and feeding with them, whereas the sparrows would try and chase them away.
Fingers crossed that now they know where the fatballs are, they'll be back tomorrow- thanks for the replies, and for the compliment on my photographic efforts, werdnal! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
