| | | Re: young bird Only joined WAB today, especially to ask for help about the bird in my garden. I'd just like to add the bird has just died, and I didn't get one reply to offer any advice |

| | | Re: young bird It is not easy for someone to answer such a brief statement. Its often best to leave fledgling birds alone. Without knowing what your garden is like, what habitat is found around it, what species of bird it was, what condition it was in, how old it was etc ... etc.. its extremely hard to say. The fact that it has recently died is suggestive that all was not well with it anyway, there is often only so much you can do. |

| | | Re: young bird Very sorry to hear the young bird didn't make it. The usual advise with young birds is to leave them alone and observe from a distance. Only to try to help if no parents feed it after a long time, see the sticky in the bird forum. The bird could have had something wrong with it or the parents failed to find enough food, who knows, nature is a bit cruel sometimes.

| | | Re: young bird Thank you for that. I did try & leave the bird (a young blackbird I think) for the parent's to find & feed, but I think it must have been hurt as well. It was at the back of my property which is decked, so therefore no hedge or cover. |

| | | Re: young bird Thank you. It was just sad to see the poor little thing calling for it's parent's. But as you say, nature can be cruel. Just hope I did the right things |

| | | Re: young bird Just be assured you didn't do the Wrong things. Caring for animals doesn't always mean happiness. Nature isn't cruel or loving, it just is. Perhaps better luck next time.
